In those years the saddles were made of a strong 5 mm thick iron frame with a dense network of springs held centrally by a serpentine spring or commonly called “Greek”. NB on the market today there are much thinner and brittle looms!
\nTo help support the weight of the passengers, two conical springs were positioned centrally to cushion the roughness of the ground.
